I've completed my first session...Now What?

Updated: Mar 3, 2020

Congratulations on taking a step toward healing! After you complete your first Emotion Code session, it's extremely important to pay attention to your body. Processing symptoms do occur in just under 1/3 of all who utilize this modality.

Recognize that we all face traumas and have trapped emotions-but you have courageously chosen to begin peeling the layers away; standing up to the generational "traumas" within your family.

What type of symptoms will I experience?

A processing symptom may be as mild as feeling tired and wanting to indulge in a nap, or it could be as severe as uncontrollable crying for a few minutes. It can feel like a headache, or cold/flu symptoms. The most important thing to remember is that you are doing great work. Tune in to your body and really give yourself extra love and grace during this time.

Tip:

Self care comes in many forms. Find the one that speaks to your soul. You can't pour from an empty cup, so take care of yourself first. Recognizing that what you're experiencing is just a symptom takes the fear out of the equation.

Examples of self-care:

  1. Take a hot detox bath with 1 cup of Epsom salt and 1/2 cup baking soda. This will allow the toxins to escape as the trapped emotions are released. The salt is also extremely grounding. Remember to shower afterward, exfoliating your skin well. Follow your bath with some natural skin moisturizer. **BONUS points if you are near the ocean-sitting in or near the ocean is as effective (if not more) than a detox bath.

  2. Meditate! There are many free apps (Insight Timer is my favorite) and YouTube videos where you can listen to Guided meditation, or simply some relaxing music. Begin with a guided meditation as you fall asleep. You will sleep better and be more relaxed.

  3. Get outside. Nature is one of the best ways to improve depression. Leave your electronics behind and head out for a walk. Make a list of everything you see that is beautiful. When the walk is complete, continue focusing on the items on this list.

  4. Take a nap. How often do we get the rest our bodies crave? Using this time to refresh and allow the body to re-calibrate is one of the most beneficial ways to carry out self-care.

  5. Drink water! Skip the coffee and drink a large glass of water instead. It is hydrating and allows the body to perform properly.
